Bring Your Bike to College: A Discussion with Dave Hagen about Collegiate Cycling Programs

Collegiate cycling can be a great opportunity for students who are passionate about cycling to continue pursuing their sport while also earning a college education. Join Dave Hagen and me as we dive into the collegiate cycling scene so you can learn about how to bring your interest and passion to the collegiate level.

It’s difficult to not connect collegiate cycling with Dave Hagen. While serving as the director of the cycling program at Fort Lewis College (Durango, CO) for 18 years, he helped guide the Skyhawks to 15 USA Cycling Collegiate national championships in mountain biking and cyclocross. In addition to the team success, Hagen has also aided more than 30 individual national champions while at FLC across four disciplines: track, mountain biking, cyclocross and road racing. In is earlier career, Dave was a professional on the Yeti mountain biking team from 1991-93.

Cycling is a unique collegiate sport. Don’t miss out on hearing from one of the best collegiate program directors to learn what you can do to mesh your cycling with college success.

This session is available in-person at Wells Group (1130 Main Ave. Durango) or via Zoom on Tuesday, April 11 at 5:30-6:30pm.

How students navigate this transition significantly impacts their academic success and overall well-being. The transition to college is often accompanied by significant changes in a student's environment, lifestyle, and social support network, which can be both exciting and overwhelming. Come explore potential issues and challenges your student may face during this critical transition and learn how to best prepare for life in college and beyond. Testimonial from the Pine River Valley Rotary Club (April 2023)

“Mark is an excellent facilitator, well organized, well prepared and a great communicator. We asked Mark to facilitate a meeting for our Rotary Club. He enabled our group to explore our ideas,  providing individual attention while keeping the group as a whole, on track. He was extremely responsive to our member's needs and circumstances.

As a result of his facilitation, all of our members felt their unique concerns were heard and understood. Our club felt more connected as a result of his work. We would highly recommend his services.”
